In a match, the red alliance and the blue alliance compete against each other. Each alliance consists of three robots. Each robot belongs to a team and is accompanied by the drive team which remains behind the alliance station.
The drive team is made up the driver, the co-driver, the team captain, the field technician and the human player who interacts directly with the robots during matches (e.g. in 2018, he had to fill chests with cubes given by the robot). A match begins with an autonomous period of 15 seconds, during which the robots are programmed to start playing and to score points without the pilot’s control. It is followed by a remote-controlled (robot-controlled) period of 1.15 minutes during which the players try to score the most points to win the match.
Example of a game: For the Power Up game of 2018 on the theme of video games, the robots had to grab and place “power cubes” (yellow cubes) on sales of different sizes to tilt them towards the side of the color of the alliance. The points won by the alliance corresponded to the time during which the scales tilted in their favor. At the end of the match, the robots had to hang onto the large 2-meter scale and lift themselves up.
